Perth homeowners are choosing battery storage now to maximise self-consumption from WA's world-class solar generation and access the WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate of up to $5,000. Ares Energy provides professional battery installation, fault diagnosis, and safety upgrades across Perth, by CEC approved, expert electricians experienced with Tesla Powerwall 3, Sungrow SBR, BYD Battery-Box, Enphase IQ Battery, and Alpha-ESS systems.
We work with both new and existing battery systems, including those installed by other providers.
Act before 1 May 2026: The Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) deeming period shortens each year as the scheme steps toward its 2030 end date. From 1 May 2026, the upfront government rebate on new battery and solar installations reduces. Homeowners who install before that date receive the higher current rebate. Install now to lock in the higher rebate before May 2026. Call 1300 717 583 for current pricing.
The Australian Government announced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program as part of the 2024-25 Federal Budget under the Powering Australia and Future Made in Australia plan. The program provides interest-free loans through the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) for eligible households installing approved battery storage systems.
The goal is to reduce battery costs by around 30% and make home battery storage accessible to more Australian families. WA homeowners can potentially stack this with Synergy's Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS) (currently 2.5 c/kWh for new connections) for maximum savings on their energy bills.
Approved brands include Tesla Powerwall 3, Sungrow SBR, BYD Battery-Box, and Enphase IQ Battery, among others on the CEC approved product list.
Ares Energy can assess your eligibility for both the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program and the WA Residential Battery Scheme. We handle the paperwork and guide you through the whole process.

Under the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme (see the Clean Energy Regulator's STC guidelines), the rebate factor applied to battery storage systems is tiered by capacity:
| Battery Capacity | STC Factor |
|---|---|
| 0 to 14 kWh | 100% of the STC factor |
| 14 to 28 kWh | 60% of the STC factor |
| 28 to 50 kWh | 15% of the STC factor |
A battery sized up to 14 kWh receives the full 100% STC factor, meaning you get the maximum upfront rebate per kilowatt-hour of storage. Popular batteries like the Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh usable) fall just under this threshold, which is one reason they are so common in Perth homes. Check the CEC approved battery product list for eligible models.
If you need more than 14 kWh of storage, the capacity between 14 kWh and 28 kWh still attracts 60% of the STC factor. This makes a dual-battery setup (e.g. two 13.5 kWh units totalling 27 kWh) a smart choice for larger homes or households with high overnight energy use: you stay within the 28 kWh threshold where the rebate is still meaningful.
From 2026, the STC deeming period shortens, reducing the total number of STCs generated for any battery installation. This means the dollar value of all three tiers decreases. Homeowners who install before the May 2026 reduction lock in the higher rebate. For a 14 kWh system at 100% factor, the difference between installing now versus after May 2026 can be several hundred dollars. For a 28 kWh dual system, the saving is even larger.
The key takeaway: Size your battery at 14 kWh or below to maximise the per-kWh rebate. If you need more capacity, staying under 28 kWh keeps you in the 60% tier. Above 28 kWh, the rebate contribution drops sharply to 15%, making very large systems harder to justify on rebate value alone. Call 1300 717 583 to discuss the right size for your Perth home.
Perth has the highest solar generation in Australia, yet with Synergy's DEBS export rate sitting at just 2.5 c/kWh for new connections, exporting excess solar is far less valuable than storing it. A correctly sized battery charges from your panels during the day and powers your home through the evening, dramatically reducing grid electricity bills at Synergy's rising Home Plan A1 rates.
The WA Residential Battery Scheme offers eligible Synergy customers up to $5,000 rebate plus a $10,000 interest-free loan for batteries installed from 1 July 2025. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides additional subsidy on top. The rebate amount is also influenced by battery capacity tiers under the Clean Energy Regulator's STC guidelines. Batteries must be installed by a CEC approved installer and participation in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is required to qualify for the WA rebate.
From new installations to safety upgrades, all backed by expert electricians.
Safe integration with new or existing solar systems
Identifying charging, communication, or performance issues
Improving isolation, protection, and compliance
Ensuring inverters and batteries work correctly together
Reviewing performance data and degradation indicators
Three specialist services designed around safety, accuracy, and long-term reliability.
Battery installation requires more than mounting a unit to a wall. We assess inverter compatibility, system capacity, electrical protection, and usage patterns before recommending a battery solution.
All battery installations are completed by expert electricians and configured to meet current safety and manufacturer requirements.
Battery faults often present as reduced charging, unexpected shutdowns, communication errors, or inconsistent performance. In many cases, the issue is not the battery itself, but system configuration or inverter interaction.
Our diagnostic process includes:
Battery systems must meet strict safety requirements related to isolation, ventilation, electrical protection, and placement. Older installations or systems installed under outdated guidelines may not meet current standards.
We assess existing battery systems and carry out safety upgrades where required to improve compliance and reduce long-term risk.
Battery systems are not suitable for every household or usage pattern. Factors such as daily energy use, export limits, inverter compatibility, and existing system design all affect whether a battery will deliver meaningful benefits.
We provide clear advice based on your actual system, not assumptions or generic recommendations.
Don't ignore these warning signs, early diagnosis prevents costly failures.
Battery not reaching full charge or charging slower than expected
System switching off unexpectedly or failing to hold charge overnight
Inverter and battery unable to communicate or sync correctly
Error codes on your monitoring app or display panel
Battery unit running excessively hot or emitting unusual smells
Monitoring shows degradation, low efficiency, or inconsistent output
A diagnostic-first approach backed by expert electricians and a genuine focus on safety.
Recognised SAA accredited installer and ARC certified, meeting required Australian standards for installation and safety.
Experience working with integrated solar and battery systems from multiple manufacturers.
We identify root causes before recommending solutions. Test first, replace only if needed.
Strong focus on electrical safety and compliance with current Australian standards.
