Perth homeowners can now access up to $5,000 under the WA Residential Battery Scheme for batteries installed from 1 July 2025, but only when installed by a CEC approved installer to AS/NZS 5139 standard. Ares Energy's expert Perth electricians perform thorough inverter compatibility assessments and install Tesla Powerwall 3, Sungrow SBR, BYD Battery-Box, Enphase IQ Battery, and Alpha-ESS systems correctly from day one.
All installations are completed by expert electricians and fully commissioned to meet current safety standards and manufacturer requirements.
Act before 1 May 2026: The Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) deeming period shortens from 1 May 2026, reducing the upfront government rebate on new battery and solar installations. The scheme steps down each year toward its 2030 end date. Homeowners who install before the reduction take effect receive the higher current rebate. Install now to lock in the higher rebate before May 2026. Call 1300 717 583 for current pricing.
The Australian Government announced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program as part of the 2024-25 Federal Budget under the Powering Australia and Future Made in Australia plan. It provides interest-free loans through the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) for eligible households installing approved battery storage systems.
The goal: reduce battery costs by around 30%. WA homeowners can potentially stack this with Synergy's Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS) (currently 2.5 c/kWh for new connections) for maximum savings. s.
Ares Energy assesses eligibility for both federal and WA state battery programs and handles the full installation and rebate process from start to finish.

Under the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme (see the Clean Energy Regulator's STC guidelines), the rebate factor applied to battery storage systems is tiered by capacity:
| Battery Capacity | STC Factor |
|---|---|
| 0 to 14 kWh | 100% of the STC factor |
| 14 to 28 kWh | 60% of the STC factor |
| 28 to 50 kWh | 15% of the STC factor |
A battery sized up to 14 kWh receives the full 100% STC factor, meaning you get the maximum upfront rebate per kilowatt-hour of storage. Popular batteries like the Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh usable) fall just under this threshold, which is one reason they are so common in Perth homes. Check the CEC approved battery product list for eligible models.
If you need more than 14 kWh of storage, the capacity between 14 kWh and 28 kWh still attracts 60% of the STC factor. This makes a dual-battery setup (e.g. two 13.5 kWh units totalling 27 kWh) a smart choice for larger homes or households with high overnight energy use: you stay within the 28 kWh threshold where the rebate is still meaningful.
From 2026, the STC deeming period shortens, reducing the total number of STCs generated for any battery installation. This means the dollar value of all three tiers decreases. Homeowners who install before the May 2026 reduction lock in the higher rebate. For a 14 kWh system at 100% factor, the difference between installing now versus after May 2026 can be several hundred dollars. For a 28 kWh dual system, the saving is even larger.
The key takeaway: Size your battery at 14 kWh or below to maximise the per-kWh rebate. If you need more capacity, staying under 28 kWh keeps you in the 60% tier. Above 28 kWh, the rebate contribution drops sharply to 15%, making very large systems harder to justify on rebate value alone. Call 1300 717 583 to discuss the right size for your Perth home.
A battery system that is incorrectly sized, incompatibly paired, or poorly wired may work initially, but will underperform, degrade faster, or develop safety issues over time. In Perth's hot climate, correct placement in a shaded or cool location is also essential for battery longevity and warranty compliance. Getting it right at installation avoids expensive corrections later.
Our approach starts with a thorough assessment of your existing solar system, inverter compatibility, and energy usage. We only recommend a battery if it is genuinely compatible and will deliver meaningful benefits for your household. We also guide eligible customers through the WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate process.
A battery recommendation without this assessment is just a guess.
Not all inverters support battery storage. We check your inverter model, firmware version, and communication capability before any recommendation.
We review your consumption patterns, particularly evening and overnight usage, to determine whether battery storage will actually benefit you.
System size, panel output, and current generation data all influence the right battery capacity. We review your existing setup in detail.
Battery location must meet clearance, ventilation, and fire separation requirements. We identify a compliant installation location before proceeding.
We verify that your switchboard and existing wiring can safely support the addition of battery storage with correct protection devices.
Grid export restrictions and feed-in tariff arrangements affect whether a battery adds real value. We factor these into our assessment.
Every installation we complete includes a full set of steps to ensure your battery operates safely, correctly, and in compliance with current Australian standards.
Inverter compatibility, system sizing, and placement review before any work begins.
Battery unit mounted to wall or floor in a compliant, ventilated location.
All wiring installed to Australian electrical standards by an expert electrician.
Correct fusing, circuit breakers, and battery isolation switch installed.
Battery paired with your inverter and charge settings correctly configured.
Full charge/discharge cycle tested to confirm the system is working correctly.
Certificate of Electrical Compliance and any required grid notification documents provided.
A clear, structured process from first call to fully commissioned battery system.
Contact us with details of your current solar system, inverter model, and average energy usage. We'll advise whether a site assessment is needed.
We assess your inverter, existing solar system, energy data, and site conditions. We confirm whether a battery is suitable and what capacity makes sense.
You receive a clear written proposal outlining the recommended battery, installation scope, compliance requirements, and total cost, no hidden extras.
Our expert electrician carries out the full installation - mounting, wiring, protection devices, inverter integration, and all required electrical work.
We test the full system, confirm it's operating correctly, walk you through monitoring, and hand over all compliance documentation.
Whether you're adding battery storage to a recently installed solar system or retrofitting onto an older setup, we assess your situation thoroughly before making any recommendation.
Not every inverter supports battery addition, and not every battery suits every inverter. We check compatibility at the firmware, communication protocol, and electrical protection level before proceeding.
